Admission and transportation have been covered with previous donations, but further assistance with food and additional costs would be greatly appreciated. Chemo was a success! Congratulations to our friend Sandra, whose latest scans show no remaining traces of cancer!

Unfortunately, chemo also turned out to be a cruel taskmaster -- its debilitating effects would not allow Sandra to attend Dragon*Con. Our thanks to Mr. Sheppard for his kindness in phoning his support and best wishes from Atlanta, and to Rayhne for initiating the call.

So, first goal foiled. But we aren't giving up that easily, friends. Not by half. In this great and geeky nation of ours, there are conventions aplenty, and one of them is ripe for the fulfillment of our promise. Check back in the weeks to come; the site will be updated again when a new destination has been determined.

In the meantime, please feel free to donate to your heart's content. Sandra still has a long road ahead of her and could certainly use our assistance with medical expenses throughout the recovery process.

Our Goal, in a Nutshell

As you may or may not know, our friend Sandra (organizer and head of the unofficial Mark Sheppard fan group) has had a rough go of it lately. Finances are tight, treatments are expensive, and the Bad News Gnu can't seem to get enough of bowling down poor Sandra's front door and wreaking metaphoric havoc on the breakables.

We as a community cannot cure her illness. We cannot protect her from hardship after the fact. Many of us can't even hug her in person.

But we can do our part to help her realize at least one dream.

Click "Donate" on the right-hand side of the page. From thirty cents to thirty dollars, please give whatever you can afford. Your donations, made direct to Sandra, will help fund a long-awaited trip to Atlanta, GA -- where she will finally be given the chance to meet Mark Sheppard in the flesh at Dragon*Con 2010.
